NOTIFICATION TO DISPLAY REGISTERS OF 2026 CANDIDATES ON SCHOOL NOTICEBOARDS.
The Uganda National Examinations Board hereby inform Heads of Centres, District/City and Municipal Inspectors of Schools that they are required to cause the display of the 2026 Candidates registers for viewing by concerned parties. The purpose of displaying the registers is to confirm registration status and correctness of the biodata.
According to the UNEB Act, Cap 259 S.4 (2), the candidates’ register should be displayed in a visible place at the school/Examination Centre where the candidates are registered and at the district headquarters respectively. The mandatory period for displaying the registers started on 7th August 2026 and will go on until 7th October 2026.
All parents and guardians of learners in Candidate classes are hereby notified to confirm the registration status of their children from the displayed registers. Candidates in schools that don’t have UNEB centre status should establish the centres where they were registered, and confirm if they are duly registered. This is important to avoid unfortunate scenarios where students are discovered unregistered at the start of the examinations period. In the event that a student who has proof of payment of registration fees is not registered, the parent should contact the school and if they are not helped, they should report to UNEB immediately for remedial action.
In addition to confirming status of registration, Heads of Centres, candidates and parents must critically analyze the registers and confirm the accuracy of the candidates’ bio data pertaining to the Index/Personal Number, spelling and order of the names, date of birth in the order prescribed by UNEB (Day, Month, Year), gender, the correct high resolution photograph attached to the rightful candidate’s name, as well as subjects and papers registered for in case of UCE and UACE. In compliance with the Personal Data Privacy and Protection Act, Heads of Centres must ensure that only the relevant bio data for verification is displayed.
Where there is a discrepancy in the diodata or photograph of a candidate, schools should formally communicate to UNEB for correction within the stipulated period. For PLE adjustments, the schools should fill an amendment form provided on portal and submit it to eRegPrimary@uneb.ac.ug. At UCE and UACE levels, schools are required to write an amendment request letter to UNEB and attach copies of either the National Identity Cards or Birth Certificates of candidates whose details need to be revised.
UNEB has also provided an SMS option accessible through the mobile telephone handsets for the purpose of ascertaining the registration status. One will be required to know the full index number of the candidate. They will go to the SMS option on their handset, type Reg leave a space, type the Full index No. and send to 6600.
